Does anyone know or can suggest what to use to seal chalk art on chalkboards that does not make the picture look so dark?
this is an example of what happens...

tough call, best i can suggest is i once found a brass varnish (like a marine one for brass bells etc on boats) and amazingly it fixed the chalk without saturating it, maybe the droplets were dry by the time they hit the chalk who knows apart from that your fighting an uphill battle but to be honest if ur doing a menu or something oil pastels on the same black background looks 10 times better and seals easily with wet varnish brushed directly onto it even :) good luck!
I realise this reply is awfully late, but you may be interested in my Learn Chalk Art book and tutorials. I am a long time professional Chalk Artist, based in Australia. After running my own business www.blackboardartworx.com.au, since 1996, I have compiled a 'Learn Chalk Art' book and tutorials. The aim of the learning pack is to teach artists to create vibrant, professional 'smudge proof' blackboard menus and signs. More details can be found at www.learnchalkart.blogspot.com

isn't your book like 300 dollars though?

Hi Daniel, yes, it was. The first 10 copies have been sold at this price, so it's due to increase now. It might seem like a lot of money, but when you compare it onsite courses and consider that you can use as a business tool (tax deductable)...$300.00 is much to pay for knowledge gathered over 15 years of trial, error and experience.

I'm thrilled to say I've only received positive feedback from those who have already purchased it :)
